چکیده

Effective application of systems engineering in rapid response environments has been difficult, particularly those where large, complex brownfield systems or systems of systems exist and are constantly being updated with both short and long term software enhancements. This paper proposes a general case for solving this problem by combining a services approach to systems engineering with a kanban-based scheduling system. It provides the basis for validating the approach with agent-based simulations. © 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Selection

Application of Rough Set Theory in Data Mining for Decision Support Systems (DSSs)

Decision support systems (DSSs) are prevalent information systems for decision making in many competitive business environments. In a DSS, decision making process is intimately related to some factors which determine the quality of information systems and their related products. Traditional approaches to data analysis usually cannot be implemented in sophisticated Companies, where managers ne...

Goal-question-Kanban: Applying Lean Concepts to Coordinate Multi-level Systems Engineering in Large Enterprises

There is good evidence from experience reports and other literature that the lean flow concepts of on-demand, value-based scheduling and limited work-in-progress are highly effective in many instances of software development. The question remains, however, if they are equally applicable to the systems and enterprise engineering found in large or complex system environments. This paper builds on...

Human Computer Interaction Using Vision-Based Hand Gesture Recognition

With the rapid emergence of 3D applications and virtual environments in computer systems; the need for a new type of interaction device arises. This is because the traditional devices such as mouse, keyboard, and joystick become inefficient and cumbersome within these virtual environments. In other words, evolution of user interfaces shapes the change in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In...

طراحی یک سیستم کنترل فرآیند تولید برای زنجیره تامین چندمرحله‌ای و تک‌محصولی

In a general sense, the main concept of Just-In-Time methodology is built on the concept of availability of an exact amount and type of commodity throughout a production line when it is really required. Under such circumstances, there is no need to situate any warehouse before any of the work station within the production plant. This method of manufacturing operations with the help of Kanban ...
